Sheikh Khalid Bin Isam Bin Saqer Al Qassimi, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation in the Emirate of Sharjah, witnessed the 34th graduation ceremony for the students of the Skyline University College (SUC), at the University City Hall in Sharjah, according to a media release.
This year’s graduation ceremony was deeply meaningful as it honoured the memory of Hamda Taryam, an inspiring student of Skyline University College who tragically passed away in January 2024. In tribute to her courage, kindness, and generosity, the graduating class of 2024 was proudly named ‘Hamda Taryam’s Batch.’ An honorary degree was conferred to her during the ceremony, which was received by her father.
Hamda’s compassion extended beyond campus through her philanthropic work with children in Masaka, Uganda, where she founded the Hamda Foundation to support orphans and underprivileged communities. Her passion for racing also led her to compete in numerous events, earning her recognition on The Fastest, Netflix’s first Arabic reality show focused on motorsport in the region. Hamda’s legacy is a powerful reminder of how one individual’s kindness and passion can profoundly impact the lives of many, the media release noted.
Kamal Puri, Founder and Board Member of SUC, conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai; and His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. He lauded their unyielding support for education and their commitment to enhancing Sharjah's educational infrastructure, scientific research, and knowledge economy. He also extended a special note of appreciation to Sheikh Khalid Bin Isam Bin Saqer Al Qassimi for his honored presence at the event.
Prof. Mohammad In’airat, Vice Chancellor of SUC, addressed the graduates with praise, highlighting their preparedness and confidence to excel in their chosen fields. Prof. In’airat extended sincere gratitude to parents, faculty, and stakeholders, recognizing their indispensable contributions to the college's growth and achievements.
The event celebrated the accomplishments of 200 graduates from diverse programs in the School of Business and School of Computing, adding to SUC’s legacy of over 20,000 alumni who have thrived in various industries worldwide. Sheikh Khalid Bin Isam Bin Saqer Al Qassimi personally awarded certificates to the graduates, congratulating them on their achievements and wishing them success in their future careers and contributions to their communities.
Following the formalities, Sheikh Khalid also honored outstanding students and faculty who earned Excellence Awards for their exemplary contributions and accepted a commemorative gift from Skyline University College.
