'Dunki' review: Shah Rukh Khan and Taapsee Pannu shine in Bollywood satire — Dunki (UAE cinemas): Are you in the mood for an entertaining film that deals with a dense issue with a deft hand? If yes, then Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’, directed by Raj Kumar Hirani, is a great place to start. Unauthorised cross-border migrant crossings may be a grim issue, but trust the Munnabhai series director Hirani to humanise them with an emotionally-charged plot.’ He gives a face and voice to all those all-or-nothing desperate souls who would go to any lengths for a better life in a foreign land without reducing it to didactic, statistic-driven drivel. Vicky Kaushal, in an extended cameo shines bright. While Khan has the tendency to over-act in several scenes, Taapsee Pannu holds her own a lot better. Their chemistry as a romantic pair might not be potent, but they grow on you. Neru (UAE cinemas): Director Jeethu Joseph and Malayalam’s top star Mohanlal re-unite for a legal thriller with ‘Neru’. Their collaborations like their hit Drishyam franchise have always been a big hit, and ‘Neru’ is no different. The movie tackles the issue of consent and violence against women in a sensitive and sensible manner. The courtroom procedural about a veteran lawyer (Mohanlal) taking on a case of a blind woman who is raped forms the spine of the film. Salaar (UAE cinemas): South Indian titans Prithviraj and Prabhas fuel this narrative on brotherhood, revenge, and rebellion. Director Prashanth Neel does a neat job of re-creating a dystopian city called Khansar. Big battles, epic set pieces and stunt spectacles make this a perfect cinematic concoction. Sam‘s career in the army spanned over four decades and five wars and he was the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal. Manekshaw, fondly called ‘Sam Bahadur,’ led the Indian Army to victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, which resulted in the creation of Bangladesh. MJ-Thriller 40 — Thriller 40 (OSN): 'Thriller 40' is one of the best documentaries to have been made on pop sensation Michael Jackson. The title is a nod to the 40th-anniversary edition reissue of Thriller (1982), his sixth album.
