Al Wasl Plaza has been dubbed the beating heart of Expo 2020 Dubai, as it stands right in centre of three districts named Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability. At 130 metres wide with a dome that’s 67.5 metres tall, this is no ordinary building – in fact, the dome doubles as a 360-degree projection surface. But you don’t have to limit yourself to marvelling at the exterior, for Al Wasl Plaza hopes to offer you six unique shows, out of which five will take place daily. Here's a look at what's on offer

Global Awakening: True to its name, the sounds of the Earth will slowly come to life as you saunter through the plaza’s garden in the early morning hours. The first show of the day will set the tone for what is to come, as you try to identify creatures in this immersive walk through nature, then merge into the bustle of city roads from around the world. Timings: Daily at 9am.

National and Honour Day Ceremonies and Cultural Performances: We’re all eager to learn about different cultures and appreciate them. This event is going to give all 192 participating countries the opportunity to honour their leaders and celebrate their culture and traditions, making it a vibrant learning experience for everyone. Timings: Daily at 10.15am.

Expo Young Stars: For this limited-time event, Al Wasl Plaza would serve as the meeting point of the future. Students from schools all across the UAE will gather here and share their stories through song and dance – all written, choreographed and directed by them. You’ll find yourself rooting for their dreams as the performances move you. Timings: From January to March, 2022; Sunday to Thursday, 11.15am, 12.15pm and 1.15pm.

Music in the Gardens: Song will fill the air in Al Wasl Plaza’s tranquil gardens, as local and international musicians showcase their talents. You’ll be able to enjoy live music of all genres, including world fusion, choir and orchestra, in traditional styling or with a modern twist. Timings: Daily at 3pm.

Awakening of Al Wasl: As night falls, the breathtaking dome tell the story of humanity. Images will dance across its blank canvas, as they speak to you about tales from the Arab region, the natural world as we know it, the endless cosmos and humanity’s constant stride towards technological advancement. Looking back at Global Awakening, the plaza brings its story full circle. Timings: Daily at sunset – So, timings will change based on when the sun sets.

Ousha and the Moon: A tribute to Ousha Bint Khalifa Al Suwaidi, the Emirati poet who swallowed the moon in an auspicious dream at the age of 12, which foretold her immense success as a crafter of words across the Arab world. For the first time ever, Ousha's dream will be illustrated for the global audiences in a 10-minute projection, bringing them a fantastical story where the moon speaks. Timings: Daily at evening.

There’s going to be something for everyone as the Expo 2020 site aims to host over 60 live shows every day. You can glam up and attend the opera, sing along at your favourite singer’s concert or participate in a flash mob. For theatre lovers, there are going to be pop-up theatres and sports fans are promised sports events. You can also celebrate the countries’ national days if they happen to fall during the Expo period from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022.
