Dubai: Motorists on their daily commute on Sunday were pleasantly surprised to see that new signboards have been sprouting across the city. Signboards leading up to the Expo 2020 site were mapped out to road users in the Expo 2020’s distinct gold colours. The World Expo will launch on October 20, 2020.

Why gold? The logo of Expo 2020 is actually inspired by a simple gold ring, which was discovered in 2002 in a place called Saruq Al Hadid, an archaeological site in Dubai that was hidden for centuries and millennia by several metres of sand dunes.

But it’s not just the roads in Dubai covered with the signs of Expo 2020, as Emirates has been flying planes with the expo’s logo for quite some time now, with colours ranging from blue, orange and green.

The Expo 2020 site spans 4.38 square kilometers and is located in the Dubai South district, close to Al Maktoum International Airport and within easy reach of Dubai International Airport, Abu Dhabi International Airport and Dubai and Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminals.

Expo 2020 Dubai is a World Expo that’s going to be hosted by Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. A World Expo is a mega international event in terms of size, scale, and duration and visitor numbers.

It’s a festival and a platform where people from all over the world come together and connect with each other, share ideas, learn and innovate. It’s also a place you can come and have fun. Expo 2020 Dubai is the first World Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region, and the first to be hosted by an Arab nation.
