BIDEN'S DECLINING POPULARITY: A string of recent polls in the US highlight President Joe Biden's declining popularity just over a year before the next election, raising concerns about the potential for a legally troubled former president, Donald Trump, to stage a comeback. Surprisingly, Trump's statistical tie in a CNN poll with Biden among registered voters, despite facing numerous criminal charges, underscores the uncertainty surrounding Biden's ability to secure a second term unless substantial political changes occur in the coming months. 50% DISCOUNT ON FINES IN SHARJAH: The decision by Sharjah authorities to grant a 50 per cent discount on fines stemming from violations dated before September 5, 2023, is a testament to their commitment to the welfare of the community. This discount extends its generous hand to everyone -- individuals, the business sector, governmental bodies, and semi-governmental organisations. But act swiftly, for this discount will only be available until December 3, 2023, marking 90 days from the decision's issuance. This generous gesture not only eases the financial burdens on individuals and businesses but also incentivises greater productivity and contribution to the Emirate's growth and prosperity. The municipality is fully dedicated to executing this decision across all departments without exception. This manifest Sharjah's concern to prioritise the needs of its people and fostering a thriving community. (By Jay Hilotin, Senior Assistant Editor)

GOOD TUSSLE BETWEEN BAT AND BALL MAKES CRICKET INTERESTING: Pakistan have a rich history of producing world-class fast bowlers. For almost five decades now, the country has been producing some of the best pacers in the game and the supply chain seems to get only better with every decade. The current trio, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Harris Rauf and Naseem Shah, only goes on to illustrate that they are almost on par with the legendary pacers Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar, who were coming at the batters across the world with their menacing pace, accuracy, seam and swing. It is always a treat to watch when there is a real tussle between the bat and the ball. The current Pakistan trio certainly bring a lot of energy to the game and keep the fans on their seats. Fans need more such games than a just a slam-bang hitting. (By A.K.S. SATISH, Sports Editor)
