DO NOT HESITATE TO GET YOUR VACCINE JAB: The most effective method to avoid COVID-19 infection is to get vaccine job. The UAE residents are very lucky that the government has made COVID-19 vaccine available for everyone in the country. There is no doubt that the UAE is moving steadily and confidently towards containing the current pandemic and moving forward through the recovery-planning phase. WORLD CONDEMNS COUP – BUT IS MYANMAR JUNTA LISTENING? There’s been global condemnation of the military coup in Myanmar, including from the G7, which said it was deeply concerned about the fate of detained political leaders such as Aung San Suu Kyi. But while the world community is demanding that the results of the November election be respected and that Parliament be convened, the junta is planning to “investigate fraud” in the election. It has also hinted that is has more important things on its plate, like fighting COVID-19 and fixing the economy. No, the military has absolutely no plans to let the elected government take back power. So it comes down to this: What will the international community now do? CAPTAIN TOM MOORE-A LIFE WELL LIVED: More than 2.2 million people have died of COVID-19 worldwide. And every one of those lives was precious. So when news broke of Captain Tom Moore succumbing to the coronavirus, it not only added to the growing toll, but also dampened the spirits of those he had helped raise during the lockdown last year. Captain Tom, 100, struck a chord with many in Britain when he walked around his garden with the help of a frame to raise 38.9 million pounds for the National Health Service. Manchester United rediscovered their best form during Tuesday's 9-0 Premier League thrashing of Southampton after two disappointing results. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side came into the contest on the back of a goalless draw with Arsenal after a 2-1 defeat by bottom side Sheffield United, but turned on the style against Southampton to equal their 1995 win over Ipswich Town. Southampton played with 10 men for the majority of the game, but ended with just nine. "We have been waiting on them (the players) to show the magic and tonight was a night that they could go and enjoy," Norwegian Solskjaer said. [COMMENT BY: Matthew Smith, Sports Editor]

RIHANNA, GRETA AND THE CURIOUS CASE OF KANGANA: It seems Kangana Ranaut has an opinion on just about everything these days. The Bollywood actress, who has been vocal about the ongoing farmers’ protests in India and has referred to it as an anti-national movement, has taken it upon herself to school Rihanna who waded into the dispute by asking why the world isn’t talking about the issue enough. Calling the singer out as a ‘fool’, Ranaut also dissed Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, who was declared Time’s Person of the Year in 2019 and has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, by calling her a ‘spoilt brat’. Ranaut’s fiery outbursts on social media erupt at regular intervals but at what point does the request for a conversation over a very public dispute crosses the line into name calling? Perhaps that’s food for thought for everyone involved. [COMMENT BY: Bindu Rai, Entertainment Editor]
