GREENING THE DESERT: Dubai, often hailed for its architectural marvels and high-quality, safe-city lifestyle, also harbours an eco-secret that's as impressive as its skyline — the extensive reclamation of water. For more than five decades, Dubai Municipality has been at the forefront of an unprecedented water reclamation drive, achieving a remarkable 90 per cent water reuse rate. As of 2022, this forward-thinking emirate had recycled an astonishing 4.5 billion cubic meters of water, significantly cutting its reliance on desalinated water and groundwater. Beyond resource management, and a Dh2 billion annual savings from water reuse, this drive aligns seamlessly with Dubai's 2050 Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy. By preserving precious groundwater reserves and reducing energy-intensive desalination processes, Dubai's water reclamation initiative is making a significant contribution to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, while keeping the city green. JADA PINKETT SMITH ADDS DUBAI TO HER GLOBAL TOUR: Hollywood powerhouse Jada Pinkett Smith is bringing her world tour, 'Worthy: A Journey with Jada Pinkett Smith,' to Dubai's Coca-Cola Arena on November 7, marking her second UAE stop after hosting a conversation in Abu Dhabi the day before. During her Abu Dhabi stop-over, Pinkett Smith will spearhead an Emmy Award-Winning show styled 'Red Table Talk’ with women entrepreneurs from the UAE capital. Her stop in Dubai is designed slightly differently. In our city, Pinkett Smith will dive into her debut memoir, 'Worthy,' releasing globally on October 17th. In this intimate Dubai evening, she'll share her remarkable life story, the challenges of being a public figure, and her unconventional journey, from a Baltimore upbringing to an atypical marriage to Will Smith. Pinkett Smith will tackle the intricate, often false narratives surrounding her family, her marriage, and her true self. The evening could be a worthy testament to her authenticity and resilience. We need more of such evenings where celebrities bare their true selves and souls rather than presenting a glossy picture with no blips. (By Manjusha Radhakrishnan, Entertainment Editor)
