With a net worth of $18 billion, 71-year-old Savitri Jindal tops the list of India's richest women and is 7th overall in richest Indians as of October. Savitri Jindal is the Chairperson Emiretus, Jindal Steel & Power Limited. Born in the Rasiwasia family in Tinsukia, Assam, Savitri married O.P. Jindal in 1970s, who had founded the Jindal Group, a steel and power conglomerate. She was a Minister in Haryana Government and member of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha (Legislative Assembly) from Hisar constituency. She lost the seat in elections held in 2014 for the Haryana assembly. She became the chairperson after her husband, O.P. Jindal, who died in a helicopter crash in 2005. She is a member of the INC political party.

She and her son took over management of Havells India after the death of the company's founder and her husband Qimat Rai Gupta. Son Anil Rai Gupta is the Chairman and Managing Director of the firm. Vinod Rai Gupta is 24th on the list of richest Indians and her net worth increased from $3.55 billion, Forbes reported.
