Indian stars, who are idolised by millions worldwide, are proving to be real-life superheroes as they pledge financial help to off-set the damages triggered by the coronavirus pandemic. On March 28, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi led a fund-raising drive called the ‘PM-Cares relief fund’, urging those who are privileged and with deep-pockets to help those suffering from Covid-19 aftermath. Here’s a round up of the stars who came forward and loosened their deep-pocketed purse strings for greater good and to battle the Covid-19 damages:

Akshay Kumar: The self-made Bollywood billionaire on Saturday took to Twitter announcing that he will contribute a whopping Rs250 million to PM Narendra Modi’s relief fund. His contribution seems to be the maximum among the clutch of actors who have robustly participated in the PM’s fund raiser. “This is that time when all that matters is the lives of our people,” his post read. His wife and author Twinkle Khanna was quick to appreciate him. “The man makes me proud. When I asked him if he was sure as it was such a massive amount and we needed to liquidate funds, he just said, ‘I had nothing when I started and now that I am in this position, how can I hold back from doing whatever I can for those who have nothing.’

Bhushan Kumar: T-Series head honcho has pledged to donate Rs.11crores to PM relief fund. “Today, we are all at a really crucial stage and it’s extremely important to do all we can to help. I, along with my entire @TSeries family pledge to donate Rs110 million to the PM-CARES Fund. We can and will fight this together, Jai Hind,” tweeted Kumar.
