As British icon Ed Sheeran prepares for his back-to-back show in Dubai as part of his +–=÷× Mathematics Tour at the Sevens Stadium on January 19 and 20, we delved into his eccentric quirks about the ‘Bad Habits’ sensation. From his love for spicy chicken to interesting cameos in Hollywood blockbusters, here’s a look at the offbeat side of Ed Sheeran's life. Before you read this, make sure to book your tickets. Earlier this month, we had reported that the Saturday show is already sold-out and tickets for the 19th are being snapped up with great ferocity. Presented by All Things Live and AEG Presents and supported by Dubai Calendar and Coca-Cola Arena, more than 60,000 fans will be serenaded by the popstar in his signature in-the-round format featuring a 360-degree central stage. But enough about the concert. Here's a look at what makes him an endearing figure outside his music:

He names his guitars: Ed Sheeran follows this quirky and endearing tradition of naming his guitars. His main acoustic guitar is named ‘Lloyd’, after the character in the film ‘Dumb And Dumber’. Other names that he chose include Lloyd, Felix, Cyril, Trevor, Keith, and Nigel. "They're all named after people in my working crew," Ed shared about naming his guitars. "The one I'm using at the moment is Chris, and he's the sound engineer. And the one before was called Trev, and the one before that was James II because James I was smashed,” said Ed Sheeran in an interview in 2014.

He loves Nandos’ Peri Peri chicken: Ed Sheeran is a huge fan of this popular restaurant chain and word on the street is that he is the proud owner of its most coveted loyalty card. With that privilege ‘Nando’s Black card’, he can eat their Peri Peri chicken anytime for free. The restaurant has also named a sauce after him. “I’ve actually got a box of that sauce at home, its name was Ed’s peri-peri,” said Ed Sheeran in an interview. He also claimed in several interviews that he always gets the same thing from the restaurant: medium chicken wrap, double chicken breast, extra hot sauce.

He made a cameo in ‘Game Of Thrones’: Ed Sheeran made an appearance in the seventh season of ‘Game Of Thrones’. He was also spotted in Star Wars and in the anthology series ‘Modern Love’. In the latter, he appeared in season one’s seventh episode where he played a drifter named Mick. That chapter also starred Olivia Cooke and Andrew Scott.

He’s a whiz at Math: Ed Sheeran isn’t just a great song writer and singer. He’s surprisingly sturdy when it comes to number crunching. After studying at the Thomas Mills School in Farmlingham, Sheeran proved that Maths and Physics were his strong points.

He loves Muppets: Ed Sheeran has a soft spot for the Muppets and made a guest appearance on "Sesame Street" to perform a song with Elmo. Ed and Kermit united to perform a song from The Muppet Movie in 1979. "I did a song with Elmo and I'm probably more proud of that than having a No. 1 record,” Sheeran said in an interview.

He’s fascinated by Legos: Ed Sheeran’s Lego collection is impressive and claims that building a Lego set helped him relax. "I find building Lego therapeutic. If I'm in the studio and I'm stuck on a song, I'll build something. It takes my mind off it, and then I can come back to the music with a fresh perspective,” said Sheeran. His favourite Lego set? Wizard Set featuring dragons and knights castle.
