As the first pictures from their wedding were posted online by the couple amidst declarations of love, it didn’t come as a surprise to many that Rao and Paul’s looks had been designed by none other than Sabyasachi.

The designer extraordinaire is usually the first choice when Bollywood celebrities get married. Who can forget the bridal looks he designed for Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Anushka Sharma (pictured left) and Deepika Padukone (pictured right)? In his own words, the fashion forward stylist broke down the looks he created for Rao and Paul for the wedding.

“Classic and beautiful with personalised details to make it her own, the bride @patralekhaa wears a red tulle embroidered buti sari paired with an embroidered veil, that is inscribed with a Bengali verse penned by Sabyasachi for the couple to mark their special day,” stated the details posted on his Instagram account. The verse in question loosely translates to: ‘I have surrendered my full love to you’.

If you admired Paul’s jewellery then it was courtesy of Sabyasachi again, which is a part of his Heritage collection that is made with 22k gold with uncut diamonds, pearls and emeralds.

Rao’s look was also designed by Sabyasachi. “The groom @rajkummar_rao wears an embroidered raw silk ivory jacket with gold plated Bengal tiger buttons paired with a Bangalore silk kurta and churidar. He completes his look with handcrafted Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery in strands of cultured Japanese pearls,” the post further read.

Pictures soon started flooding the internet with a special few images that filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan posted that particularly stood out. In one of the images she is seen tying a turban on for Rao ahead of his wedding. Who knew she had the skill?

Images from their wedding reception also made it online with Rao and Paul pictured with the Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. In an accompanied post, Khattar wrote: “Attended the wedding ceremony of famous Bollywood actors Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa in Chandigarh and gave the bride and groom blessings and wished them a successful married life.” Dressed in a cream silk saree by Sabyasachi, Paul paired her look with more heritage jewellery and a wrap while Rao looked dapper in a black tuxedo.

On Monday, the couple took to their respective Instagram accounts to share images from the wedding, penning loved up notes to mark the occasion. “I got married to my everything today; my boyfriend, my partner in crime, my family, my soulmate...My best friend for the last 11 years! There is no greater feeling than to be your wife! Here’s to our forever...,” posted Paul. Rao wasn’t far behind in portraying his affection. “Finally after 11 years of love, romance, friendship and fun, I got married to my everything today, my soulmate, my best friend, my family. Today there is no greater happiness for me than being called your husband @patralekhaa. Here’s to forever... and beyond.”

The couple hosted a white-themed engagement ceremony on Saturday that saw Rao get down on bended knee to slip a ring onto the finger of his ladylove. Patralekhaa wasn’t to be left behind and also got down on a knee to profess the same before they danced the night away to the tunes of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Perfect’.

While the duo chose to keep the wedding a low-key affair, at least for Bollywood standards, they did have some industry friends present including actress Huma Qureshi and her brother, actor Saqib Saleem.
