Mean Girls’ star Lindsay Lohan started calling UAE home about six years ago. In an Instagram post she confirmed her residence while outlining some of the measures that Dubai has taken to keep residents safe. She wrote: “@uaegov @dubaipolicehq I wanted to thank the government of the UAE and the Dubai Police for their continued support during these uncertain times and keeping this country safe. Wishing everyone a blessed month and God bless.”

UK pop star Cat Stevens divides his time between UK and Dubai. Stevens, aka Yusuf Islam, has a son called Yoriyos, who helps run their business and charitable ventures. In 2001 he opened an office and then a studio in Dubai to produce more children’s songs. He also runs the Yusuf Islam Foundation, which supports victims in conflict zones by providing relief and educational services.

Two-time boxing world champion Amir Khan is getting ready to pack his bag and move to Dubai. Khan, his wife and three children plan to be in UAE in the next few months. “Maybe one day we could have a boxing arena in the Coca-Cola Arena! Moving here is definitely a challenge, but also an opportunity to open more doors for boxing in Dubai,” he says.

Roger Federer, tennis great, also lives in Dubai. According to media reports, he spends the autumn and winter months in the city and stays at Dubai Marina's sky high cluster of towers, Le Reve. He reportedly bought his apartment in 2014 and spends most of his off-season training in the city. He trains in the city to get used to the heat and accommodate his body to humid conditions.

The former Real Madrid football star Michel Salgado came to Dubai for the first time in 2003 and fell in love with the city and the opportunities it offers he said in an interview. He lives in Dubai and, as global ambassador for the Spanish football association La Liga, plays an influential role in promoting the sport in the Middle East.
