The Election Commission of India had announced the election schedule for the legislative assemblies of Kerala, Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry (under the President's rule). All five assemblies will be completing their terms in the coming two months. Voting for five assembly elections will begin on March 27, with Assam going to polls first and West Bengal concluding it with its eighth voting phase on April 29.

After sitting with them today, I understood their work, felt well being of their families and the difficulties of their life," Gandhi tweeted along with pictures of herself interacting with the tea workers.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was seen jumping into the sea in Kollam with fishermen on the campaign trail ahead of the crucial Kerala assembly elections in April-May. The Wayanad MP was with the fishermen folk in Kollam district to get a taste of their life, but much to everyone’s surprise, he jumped into the water when they cast their net. He then spent at least 10 minutes swimming in the sea before returning to the shore. Gandhi was accompanied by a personal security officer when he jumped from the boat after seeing the fishermen cast their net to catch fish.

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president MK Stalin expressed confidence of forming the next government and announced that the party will be releasing its manifesto for the upcoming state elections and party's vision for Tamil Nadu.
