Jumeirah Golf Estates has hosted the Jumeirah Pairs over the Earth Course with 112 golfers competing. The course was in immaculate condition with the wind picking up later in the players rounds making a few holes a little trickier.
The January edition of the Jumeirah Pairs was won by Marc Ferrera and Ivan Kraemer with a score of 47 points. The pair dovetailed brilliantly and managed to conjure up two net eagles on their way to victory.

Runners-up, and only one point behind were Zak El-Taher and Adam Hodgkins with 46 points. The duo managed 22 points on the front nine and came back in 24 points with zero drop shots in the round.
In third place with 45 points were Alan Dobbins and Ben Wills.
We also had a ‘Beat the Pro’ challenge on the fourth hole that was set up by Diarmaid Fraser, one of our Peter Cowen Academy Dubai professionals. Four golfers managed to hit their shots into the long par-three closer than Diarmaid, with Gavin Steel being the winner.

Elsewhere, Emirates Golf Club hosted the Ladies Competition and Past Captain’s Trophy which saw 39 golfers compete on the Faldo Course.
The overall winner of the Ladies Competition was Masayo Kozai with 41 points. Masayo had an incredible finish to her front nine which consisted of a net birdie on hole eight and gross birdie on hole nine. The winner of the Silver Division (0-18.5) was Haide Wright with 34 points. The hightlight of Haide’s round came on hole 14, where she made a net birdie. In the Bronze Division (18.6-28) the winner was Sue Hopwood with 35 points. Sue had a great run through the middle of her front nine, where she made a two net pars and one net birdie.
In the Past Captain’s Trophy, Yana Jamieson was victorious with 39 points. Yana had a very strong back nine, which inluded three net birdies in a row. Runner up was Maura Duggan with 37 points. Maura had a very strong finish to her back nine as she made net birdies on holes 15 and 16.
