Dubai: Emirati Razan Al Mubarak has been elected as the president of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). IUCN is the global body on the status of the natural world and the measures needed for its protection.
A Dubai Media Office tweet on Tuesday, quoting His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said: “Proud of the daughter of the Emirates, Razan Al Mubarak, being elected president of the International Union for Conservation of Nature. We are proud of all our national cadres ... We are proud of our environmental achievements ... And we are proud of all the daughters of the nation.”
Razan Al Mubarak was elected as the new president at the ongoing IUCN World Conservation Congress in Marseille. IUCN members also elected the treasurer, commission chairs and regional councillors across eight global regions. IUCN is the global authority on the status of the natural world and the measures needed to safeguard it.
