Dubai: To help fight global hunger, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) has donated Dh1 million to UAE’s ‘100 Million Meals’, the region’s largest food donation campaign this Ramadan.
The campaign, launched on April 11, continues to collect donations from companies and individuals inside and outside the UAE. Every Dh1 contributed can provide a meal to beneficiaries in targeted countries across the Arab region, Africa, Asia, Europe and South America.
Hasan Abdulla Al Shamsi, area manager at ADIB Abu Dhabi Central Area and Estidama Council member, said: “We are pleased at ADIB to be part of the ‘100 Million Meals’ campaign, and to help families in need. We are also proud to be contributing to fight the international hunger challenge by partnering with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) to provide food parcels during Ramadan across 30 countries. This initiative is in line with ADIB’s commitment to support the wise vision of the UAE government as well as its commitment to enhance and develop its social responsibility towards various communities.”
National and global solidarity
Organised by MBRGI, the ‘100 Million Meals’ is an expansion of the UAE-wide ‘10 Million Meals’ campaign last year. MBRGI has teamed up with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the Food Banking Regional Network and charity organisations in beneficiary countries to ensure food parcels are delivered to the doorsteps of needy families. The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian & Charity Establishment (MBRCH) is also supporting the campaign, alongside other local and federal entities in the UAE.
