Dubai: Mohamed & Obaid Al Mulla Group donated Dh1 million to the UAE’s ‘100 Million Meals’ campaign that aims to provide food parcels for disadvantaged individuals and families across 30 countries during Ramadan.
The donation will help provide one million meals to beneficiaries across the Middle East, Asia, Africa and South America, after the strategic campaign partner Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment (MBRCH) expanded its food relief operations to a new list of countries. Donations continue to pour in from companies, businessmen and individuals inside and outside the UAE to provide food parcels that empower people in need to prepare their own meals throughout Ramadan.
Buti Al Mulla, chairman of the Board of Directors of Mohamed & Obaid Al Mulla Group, lauded the humanitarian ideals of the ‘100 Million Meals’ campaign. “Food support for those in need across the Middle East, Africa, Asia and South America is a step in combating the pressing challenge of hunger worldwide. The campaign reiterates the firm approach of the UAE in dealing with humanitarian crises and reflects its constant endeavor to be a global philanthropic pioneer.”
He added: “Our Dh1 million donation aims to give back to society and fulfill our national responsibilities to support the nation’s efforts in philanthropy, which the UAE leadership attaches great importance to. We expect the campaign to succeed beyond expectations, especially in light of the circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which drives us towards more compassion and giving.”
Partnership for Good
Food parcels are distributed in an integrated network of collaborations between the campaign’s organiser the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), the UN World Food Programme, Food Banking Regional Network, the MBRCH, and humanitarian organisations in beneficiary countries.
