Dubai: The Sri Lankan Welfare Association (SLWA-Sahana) has successfully conducted iftar meal distribution at workers’ accommodations in Dubai and Abu Dhabi during Ramadan.
In coordination with Community Development Authority of Dubai and Food ATM, SLWA-Sahana recently distributed over 2,500 iftar meals in Sonapur and another 1,600 iftar meals in Musaffah, Abu Dhabi.
“The kindness and generosity of the Sri Lankan community members, including well-wishers, social, professional and past pupil associations were displayed once again to the community in UAE. We are also grateful to many non-Sri Lankan nationals who supported with the distribution of iftar meals during Ramadan,” said M. Isthiaq Raziq, SLWA-Sahana president.
He added there will be two more distributions on April 20 and 23, with 1,500 and 4,000 meals to be distributed, respectively.
“Last year, SLWA-Sahana distributed 4,300 iftar meals and 117 dry ration packs. We are grateful to all the dedicated volunteers and generous sponsors for supporting us in this noble cause in 2022 as well,” Raziq added.
