Dubai: Lieutenant Maitha Mohammed Seif, a Dubai Police officer and a certified judge with the Emirates Shooting Association, is the only female judge in a panel of 30 international judges at the UAE SWAT Challenge 2024.
Her expertise and depth of knowledge have earned the acclaim and respect of fellow judges and participants.
Sharpshooter since 2000
Lt Maitha began her career in 2000 in the VIP Protection Unit of the General Department of Organisation Protective Security and Emergencies. Her interest in target shooting became a passion, and she soon started winning competitions.
Her skill and proficiency helped her make the Dubai Police shooting team and graduate to the UAE national shooting team, claiming many laurels for over 15 years. Lt Maitha says the achievements were only possible with the opportunities, motivation and training provided by the Dubai Police.
Venturing into judging
Her excellent marksmanship helped Lt Maitha grow in the sport. She undertook several courses, including an instructor’s course in South Africa in 2015 and specialised training by the Ministry of Interior and conducted by Dubai Police. Soon she transitioned into a judge.
The UAE SWAT Challenge experience
After her debut as a judge in the 2020 UAE SWAT Challenge, Lt Maitha went from strength to strength. Her experience as a shooter instilled in her attributes like readiness, focus, overcoming fear and maintaining precision, all crucial to ensure fairness and transparency for judging at international events.
She is committed to maintaining physical fitness and mental agility, essential attributes for a judge. Her awareness of competition rules and regulations and keen focus on participant safety make Lt Maitha a top-class judge at major shooting competitions.
