Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Wednesday attended the graduation ceremony of 702 cadets from three police academies in the UAE.
The ceremony was held at Expo 2020 Dubai in the presence of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council; Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior; Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, and other senior officials.
‘Graduation of the Fiftieth’ is the first such event at Expo. It included a military parade and exercises in line with the celebration of the UAE Golden Jubilee. The ceremony was organised by Dubai Police under the umbrella of the Ministry of Interior.
The cadets graduating with Bachelor in Law and Police Studies are from Dubai Police Academy, Abu Dhabi Police Academy and Sharjah Police Science Academy. These include 425 students from Abu Dhabi Police College (245 cadets, 167 male students, and 13 female students); 248 cadets from Dubai Police Academy (185 male students and 63 female students); and 29 cadets and students from Sharjah Police Academy.
This year’s graduation ceremony included a batch of female cadets who will be graduating with the other cadets for the first time in the UAE. There will be a military parade by policewomen during the ceremony — also a first for the region.
