Abu Dhabi: A total of 264 warnings have been served to motorists in the capital for leaving their vehicles unattended for extended periods in public spaces, the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City announced in a statement sent today (August 15).
Municipal officials issued the warnings during a five-day inspection campaign, the statement said.
Vehicle owners in the capital are not allowed to leave dirty vehicles, trailers and boats in parking lots and open public areas as they become eyesores. Once the notice is served, the inspectors monitor the vehicle for three days. If it is not cleaned or removed, the vehicle is then towed, in accordance with Law No 2 of 2012 regarding public health, appearance and safety.
During the recent campaign, the municipality also rounded up individuals who were offering unlicensed car-washing services to motorists. The municipality also urged residents to report any unattended vehicles.
